What would be my favorite road trip around here? There is so much to see in Arizona and I would try to take in as much as one could possibly take in for one weekend. And here is how I would accomplish that:
I would drive up to Flagstaff in the fall with my husband. I would stop in Phoenix in the morning and have breakfast at a roadside diner. On the way to Flagstaff, we would make it a leisurely trip and stop at interesting places and towns on the way. I would have lunch at a little roadside diner famous for their pie.
In Flagstaff I would go hiking in the forests and see the fall trees. I would arrange a picnic in the woods at one of the many picnic tables in the state park. I would stay in a bed and breakfast in the woods. I would make sure to do some shopping in the little stores in downtown Flagstaff. I would take a day and drive up to the Grand Canyon and do a little hiking on the rim. I may even take a donkey ride into the canyon a little ways. I would make sure to have lunch at one of the restaurants in the park, one with a pretty view of the canyon.
After returning to Flagstaff I would rent a bike and take a ride in the National Park. I would try to spot a deer and get it's picture. I would have dinner at a fancy restaurant in the city. The day I left I would sleep in and take it easy about my return. On the drive home I would stop at the rest areas with the pretty overlooks and take a lot of pictures. |
